Abbas Marquees help to get River Cottage back on track!

Exciting times are ahead for our Client Abbas Marquees, who have been selected to put up a bespoke temporary structure to house the River Cottage’s sevices after a fire burnt down the famous barn this February.

The new temporary structure will house its cookery school and two canteens whilst work begins on restoring the barn to its former glory. It will also contain a full commercial kitchen alongside fully functioning water, electricity and drainage all feeding from and into the farm’s generated supplies.

Likewise It will tick every one of their green and energy efficient credentials and be a typically recognised River Cottage space – except there will be more toilets!

The River Cottage made its debut to our television screens 1998, when it was used by celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, for the setting of three television series which focused on growing and rearing some of his own produce.

It captured the nation’s hearts and since then The River Cottage team has set up its head quarters in Axminster Devon, home to their local produce store, cookery school and commercial canteens. Staff, visitors and the local community alike were left devastated earlier on this month, after the 400 year old restored barn known tragically caught fire, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Abbas Marquees are thrilled to help get the River Cottage back on it is feet and work has already began on building the temporary structure so that the farm can resume its services. We worked closely with Abbas Marquees to create their branding, stationary and website.

Bob Golding in the news!

A couple of weeks ago, we were ecstatic to open up a copy of our Bristolian local paper The Evening Post, to find a double page spread on the life and work of one of our loveliest clients, Bob Golding.

Bob’s has had an incredibly interesting life. Renowned in his field of Zoology, he’s spent many years working with animals in West Africa, first with Gerald Durrell, famous author and fellow zoologist in Cameroon in 1957 (see Durrell’s book ‘A Zoo in my Luggage’), then developing the Zoological Garden at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, from 1963 to 1979. Subsequently, he was then involved in various capacities with Chessington Zoo, Cotswold Wildlife Park and Windsor Safari Park, all in the UK.

The article in the Evening post takes a look at some of Bob’s greatest memories, playing tribute to his online archive of stunning photography. We worked closely with Bob to create an online space that would truly reflect the awe of his work. Find out more about Bob and his work with wild animals by visiting his website: ‘Animals, Africa and Other Secrets’
